Our 2022 NCL Bliss Cruise!

Today’s blog post is all about our 2022 NCL Bliss Cruise! We just spent our spring break on the beautiful Norwegian Bliss sailing from Los Angeles, visiting Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta! It was amazing to be back onboard a ship experiencing excellent hospitality, great food, and entertainment.

Here is a quick overview of our trip and what cruising is like in 2022. All cruise lines will require that all travelers 12 and over are fully vaccinated; each line will vary on rules for kids 11 and younger. Norwegian also requires the completion of a covid test 2 days before sailing. One convenient option is to take a self-test; it is critical to purchase a test with a telehealth component to be accepted by NCL. The testing consisted of a simple self-administered test paired with a video call to confirm the process and results. Within minutes we had our negative test certificate to show at the pier!

We flew into the Los Angeles area the day before (highly recommended due to the crazy flight cancellations and delays). The day was spent enjoying sunny Southern California with family and a pleasant overnight stay in Long Beach.

Once we arrived at the pier, the boarding process was simple. We showed our boarding docs, identification, covid vaccine cards, and test results; It was about 45 minutes from curb to ship!

After the past few years, we were so excited to board a ship; the Bliss is stunning and was only matched by the friendly crew’s splendid smiles. With over 20 decks to explore, we started with our first of many tasty meals to fuel us for our ship tour. Our stateroom was available after 1:00 PM, with our luggage already waiting for us at our door. Gilbert, our stateroom attendant, took great care of all of our needs throughout our voyage.

Throughout our time on the Bliss, we had meals in the many dining venues, enjoyed the music and entertainment onboard, and took in some sun, pool time, and waterslides! A highlight for the family was the GoKart racing and the laser tag arena. Though these are extra-cost items, they made great cruise memories for our family and friends! We all agreed that our favorite area of the ship was the observation lounge on deck 15 forward; this space offered stunning views, quick bites, and an excellent place for some card and board games.

While in port, I served as our tour guide with a great walking tour of the town, some beach time, and definitely a lot of eating and shopping! We have visited these ports on a past cruise, so it was nice to revisit our favorites and explore new areas and show our friends around the Mexican Riviera towns.

As with every cruise, disembarkation day comes way too quickly. Of course, we were sad to leave, but our week was filled with relaxation, laughs, and plenty of fun. We can’t wait to cruise again in a few months!
