Our Family Travel on the Carnival Liberty!

As parents family travel is so important to us.  We love to expose Ryland and Bryce to new experiences, cultures, and adventures.  Our travel ranges from RV trips through the Utah national parks to great this family cruise trip on the Carnival Liberty!

Ready to sail on our next family cruise trip!

We departed from Galveston, TX on the Carnival Liberty for a 5-night voyage that included stops in Cozumel and Yucatan, Mexico.  Sailing out of Galveston is very easy for us, a quick flight from Denver to Houston followed by an hour transfer to Galveston.  Embarkation was a little crowded, but the waiting area provided by Carnival is comfortable, and they were very efficient at getting people on board.  This was a last minute booking for us, we usually book Carnival’s “Faster to the Fun” option which provides a ton of great things like priority boarding, early access to your stateroom, priority luggage delivery and more.  The cost ranges from $49-$79 per stateroom.

We had been introducing a bunch of Dr. Seuss books to the kids before this trip because I had pre-booked a decorated stateroom for the boys.  When we arrived at the room, we were greeted with a wonderfully decorated room with streamers, hanging signs and a plush Cat in the Hat for Bryce and Ryland.  They loved it!  On this family cruise trip, I booked adjoining balcony staterooms.  Storage was plentiful, bathrooms are standard for Carnival, and the bedding is comfortable.  We always try to do adjoining rooms or suites so that the parents can have some privacy and the boys can have their own space.

As with most of our cruises, our dining is made up of the buffet for breakfast and lunch and the main dining room for the evening.  We usually don’t have the opportunity to hit the specialty dining restaurants, although we have always been more than satisfied with the main dining room experience.  The boys love the various appetizer fruit soups and are always eager to try the diverse main course offerings.

Carnival ships constantly provide a festive atmosphere, colorful public areas, and great entertainment.  The kids love the kids club and mini-golf as well as the pools.  On this family cruise trip, they were also treated to a movie at sea!

During our port stops, we enjoyed visiting the Mayan ruins in Progresso, and Caitlin and the boys did a beach day excursion while docked at Cozumel.  I was able to head out to sea and do a two tank scuba dive.  Our port excursions are typically focused on beach days, eating and some shopping.  If the boys could play in the sand and water all day, they would!
