Day 1 – Arrive Fairbanks
Upon your arrival, transfer to the hotel. This will be your home for two nights.
Day 2 – Riverboat Discovery Tour
On your three hour cruise, the Discovery will take you into the heart of Alaska and the heart of a family who has made the rivers of Alaska a way of life for five generations. You will see a bush floatplane taking off alongside a “bush” style runway; visit the home and kennels of the late four-time Iditarod winner Susan Butcher.
Day 3 – Luxury Dome Rail to Denali Park
This morning you transfer to Rail Station for your luxury dome rail trip to Denali National Park. Relax and enjoy the scenery, easy to view through the expansive dome windows. Your conductor will keep you posted on points of interest along the way. A no-host, full-service restaurant is available on the lower level and coffee, tea and a no-host bar are available in the dome area for your enjoyment.
Upon arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel for three nights.
Day 4 – Full Day Tour of Denali National Park
Your tour today is a full day narrated exploration along the Denali Park Road. This trip into Denali National Park travels the entire length of the restricted 92-mile Denali Park Road to Kantishna. The trained naturalist Guide/Driver provides natural history interpretation along the way.
Lunch is served at Backcountry Lodge. After lunch take a nature walk to Fannie Quigley’s historic pioneer cabin, which was restored by the National Park Service. (L)
Depart the lodge and tour back through the Park to your hotel. As an option you may take a flight back over the Park. (Cost is $300 per person).
Day 5 – River Float and Visit to a Sled Dog Camp
This morning you transfer to the Nenana River and enjoy your introduction to rafting in Alaska. You may see moose, sheep, caribou and bear, as you raft downstream 11 miles. The most scenic portion of the Nenana River gives you thrilling, yet enjoyable, rafting. A great trip for families!
This afternoon experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky Homestead, home of Iditarod Champion Jeff King. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a championship team and carving a life in Alaska’s Interior. Hear compelling stories from the trail and see actual racing sleds, arctic survival gear and equipment used to traverse 1100 miles of Alaska’s most rugged terrain.
Day 6 – Luxury Dome Rail to Talkeetna and Jetboat Safari
This morning after breakfast, re-board the Luxury Dome rail for your trip to Talkeetna. On arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel.
Your exciting trip this afternoon will begin aboard your jetboat as it whisks you into the heart of the wilderness in comfort. Upon arriving at the Safari sight, you will take a 1/4 mile leisurely nature walk where you will see a Dena’ina Indian Encampment. You will visit an authentic trapper’s cabin with its original furnishings and view how trappers lived in “Bush” Alaska at the turn of the century.
Day 7 – Luxury Dome Rail to Anchorage
This morning after breakfast transfer to the rail station and re-board the Luxury Dome rail for your trip to Anchorage. Enjoy the sights as you ride through the Matanuska Valley to Anchorage.
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 8 – Anchorage
Your tour ends today as you check out from your hotel.
