Sailing on the Freedom of the Seas

How do you top a 21 day trip with the family around Europe?  Simple answer.  Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas.  Read on to learn more about our sailing on this great Freedom-class vessel!

This last summer we took the family on our first trip to Europe.  Our trip started with a flight to NYC, then off to Barcelona via Delta Airlines.  After exploring the sites, tastes and adventures of Barcelona we boarded the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas.  Our cruise would take us to the popular Mediterranean ports of calls of Marseille, Villefranche-Sur-Mer, Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Civitavecchia and Naples.

We sailed for 7 days on the Freedom of the Seas and did it in comfort with the boys!  I was lucky to book a Balcony stateroom (Stateroom 9696) with an adjoining inside stateroom (Stateroom 9701).  This is a very rare combination found on a few Royal Caribbean ships.  This was the perfect configuration for our family since Caitlin and I could enjoy the balcony and the boys had a nice quiet, dark room for sleeping and napping.  Another HUGE plus was having two bathrooms!

The Freedom class ships are a great size vessel.  They provide a ton of activities for all ages as well as a bunch of choices when it comes to dining and entertainment.  As always we enjoyed the main dining room as well as the Windjammer Cafe.  The boys attended the kids club a few times and would have gone more often if our trip was not so port intensive.

This cruise on Freedom of the Seas was incredible.  We were able to sample a bunch of cities, eat great food and enjoy top-notch service and entertainment. Please enjoy some photos from our trip!
